HÀ NỘI -- Việt Nam dominated the 11th Southeast Asian Karate Championship which closed in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 27.
In five days from April 22-27, competitors took part in both kata (peformance) and kunite (combat) categories for cadets, juniors, U21 and national senior team events.
The Vietnamese fighters won 21 golds, 21 silvers and 32 bronzes, nearly two times more than the second-placed team, Thailand (13 golds, 16 silvers, 31 bronzes).
Indonesia were at third with 10 golds, eight silvers and 13 bronzes.
Among the Vietnamese winners were Nguyễn Thị Phương, Nguyễn Ngọc Trâm, Lưu Thị Thu Uyên (women's kata team), Nguyễn Thị Ngoan (women's over-68kg), Hoàng Thị Mỹ Tâm (women's under 61kg), Đinh Thị Hương (women's 68kg), Phạm Minh Đức (men's individual kata), and Nguyễn Thanh Trường (men's 84kg). VNS
