HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese male badminton player Nguyễn Tiến Minh will miss his chance to compete in the upcoming SEA Games 30 due to injury, the National Sports Administration has announced.
Minh is suffering from a thigh muscle injury and hasn’t recovered in time for the Games.
Therefore, Nguyễn Hải Đăng, the 19-year-old player will be the only Vietnamese representative to compete in the men’s singles event in the Philippines.
Minh is focusing on recovering his strength at home to prepare for upcoming international events with the aim of earning a ticket to the Olympics Tokyo 2020.
On the women’s side, Nguyễn Thùy Linh and Vũ Thị Trang are considered key female players on the Vietnamese badminton team to vie in women’s singles and doubles’ events.
Vietnamese badminton players will leave for Manila, the Philippines on Friday for the regional biggest sport event. — VNS
