HÀ NỘI — Lý Hoàng Nam entered the quarter-finals of the men’s singles at the ITF World Tennis Tour M25 - Hải Đăng Cup in the southern province of Tây Ninh on Thursday.
The No 1 Vietnamese player defeated 20-year-old Manish Sureshkumar of India 6-3, 7-6 in the second round.
Nam, 22, of Hải Đăng Club, will face Alexey Zakharov of Russia, who defeated No 3 seed Rio Noguchi of Japan 6-1, 6-0, in the next round.
Overseas Vietnamese player Daniel Nguyễn of Hải Đăng also came from behind to beat Japanese Makoto Ochi 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 to reach the quarter-finals.
Nguyễn will next take on No 2 seed Goncalo Oliveira of Portugal.
The event, which has a total prize purse of US$25,000, will run until October 6. — VNS
