HA NOI — With the support of his teammates, Phan Hoang Thai of Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap won the third stage of the Binh Duong Television Cycling Tournament, Ong Nhua Hoa Sen Cup, on December 5.
Thai triumphed in the 106km stage from Ninh Hoa to Krong Pak of Dak Lak Province after clocking a time of 2:36.50. During the race, he had to conquer the Phuong Hoang mountain pass which posed a significant challenge.
The yellow jersey award for the best overall time still belonged to Pham Quoc Cuong of Dong Thap. Nguyen Minh Luan and Tran Nguyen Duy Nhan were the runners-up.
National cyclist Le Nguyet Minh of VUS-HCM City maintained the green jersey award as the best sprinter with 28 points. Huynh Thanh Tung of the Viet Nam team is in the race for the green jersey award with Minh, as Tung now has 23 points.
The white jersey award for the best young cyclist went to Nguyen Minh Luan of Vinh Long.
Thai’s performance helped his team Domesco Pharmacy Dong Thap take the lead in the team rankings with a time of 23:21.23 after three stages, followed by VUS-HCM City and Gao Hat Ngoc Troi An Giang.
Today, cyclists will compete in the fourth 134km stage from Buon Me Thuot City in Dak Lak to Chu Se District in Gia Lai Province. — VNS
