HÀ NỘI — Veteran Huỳnh Minh Thịnh of Becamex Bình Dương beat young ace Tất Thái Nguyên of Hưng Thịnh – HCM City in the men’s singles quarter-finals of the VTF Pro Tour 200, Hưng Thịnh Cup 2019 in Bình Định Province on Thursday.
Thịnh won 6-3, 0-6, 7-5.
In other matches of men’s singles quarter-finals, young talent Nguyễn Quang Vinh of Hưng Thịnh – HCM City was defeated by Nguyễn Đắc Tiến of Hà Nội 4-6, 1-6.
No 1 seed Nguyễn Văn Phương of Becamex Bình Dương easily beat his teammate Cao Dương Đại 6-0, 6-3. Meanwhile, veteran Hoàng Thành Trung of Hải Đăng Tây Ninh lost to Phạm Minh Tuấn of Hưng Thịnh – HCM City 4-6, 3-6.
Although losing in the men’s singles, Nguyên paired with Trần Tiến Thịnh to beat brothers Thịnh and Huỳnh Minh Hưng 6-1, 3-6, 10-6 in the men’s doubles quarter-finals.
The duo Minh Tuấn and Lê Quốc Khánh of Hưng Thịnh – HCM City easily defeated their teammates Nguyễn Nhật Quang and Nguyễn Nhựt Hoàng 6-0, 6-2.
The tournament, with total prize money of VNĐ200 million, marks the opening for the 2019 VTF Pro Tour system run by the Việt Nam Tennis Federation (VTF).
