INDONESIA — Viet Nam beat Laos 4-1 at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U19 Youth Championship yesterday.
Head coach Hoang Anh Tuan switched nine players leaving only Duy Kien and Xuan Tu from their last game.
In the opening minutes, Viet Nam attacked U19 Laos. From a Bao Toan pass, Danh Trung scored after 24 minutes. Before the first half ended, U19 Viet Nam added two more goals. Van Cong and Van Toi hit the net before the break.
In the second half, Laos were forced on the back foot, with Viet Nam in control. On 75 minutes Huu Thang scored the fourth goal to Viet Nam.
Lao added a consolation goal late on.
The victory put Viet Nam second place in group A, level with Thailand on seven points.
In the other game, Thailand beat Singapore 6-0. Viet Nam will face host Indonesia in the next match on Saturday. — VNS
