HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam finished second in the ASEAN Team Tennis Championship, which concluded in Singapore on Thursday.
Việt Nam lost to Indonesia 2-3 in the final match to narrowly miss out on the title.
Việt Nam won the men’s singles and doubles through the strong play of veteran Trịnh Linh Giang. They lost in the women’s singles, women's doubles and mixed doubles.
Việt Nam beat Singapore 4-1 and Malaysia 3-2.
The event drew four teams including Singapore, Việt Nam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Following the event, Vietnamese tennis players will have a week off to prepare for the National Tennis Championship at Hải Đăng Club in the southern province of Tây Ninh on May 15-22.
The national event will attract the participation of more than 100 players from 11 teams with prizes totalling VNĐ200 million (US$8,700). — VNS
