DA NANG — A number of thrilling tennis matches kicked off the VTF Pro Tour 3 - 3rd Open Vietravel Cup 2018 on June 5 at the Tuyen Son Sports Palace in Da Nang.
Youthful Duong Thien Quang from Hung Thinh ‒ HCM City crushed Nguyen Duy Nam from the Vinh Phuc team, 6-0, 6-1, while former second seed Bui Tri Nguyen from Hai Dang Tay Ninh took little time in beating Nguyen Van Son from Vinh Phuc, 6-0, 6-3.
Le Khac Tung Lam of hosts Da Nang beat Nguyen Truong Thinh from Hai Dang Tay Ninh, 7-5, 4-0.
Vu Artem of Becamex Binh Duong and Ha Noi’s Nguyen Hoang Minh thrilled crowds with an up-and-down match. After losing the first set 6-2, Minh won four straights games to take a 4-0 lead against Vu in the second set.
However, Vu fought back, taking the last six games of the set to win, 6-4.
The top seeds will play their first matches the following day, with Trinh Linh Giang facing Vu Ha Minh Duc from Ha Noi and Pham Minh Tuan going up against Vu Van Toan.
The VTF Pro Tour 3 is co-organised by the Viet Nam Tennis Federation and the Da Nang City Tennis Federation.
Eleven teams, including Becamex Binh Duong, Ha Noi, People’s Policeman and Hai Duong, are participating in the tournament. Army, Da Nang, Ninh Thuan, and Hung Thinh – TPHCM are also fielding teams, along with Vinh Phuc, Hai Dang - Tay Ninh, and Thanh Hoa.
Players compete in four categories – men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles. — VNS
