HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam grabbed two more gold medals in the morning session of the third day at the Philippines' SEA Games on Tuesday.

Wushu martial artist Phạm Quốc Khánh opened the day with a title in the men's nanquan (Southern fist) event after his 9.65-point performance.

It was the first gold for the wushu team after two days of con-petitions.

It was also the second medal that Khánh earned here after a bronze in the men's nangun (Southern staff) and nandao (Southern broadsword) on Monday.

"I have passed my limit to take this medal," said 29-year-old Khánh who has practised wushu since he was four.

"Failing for top place yesterday was a strong push for me today. I have done a better job and won. It is a really happy feeling," he said.

Apart from a gold, Vietnamese artists also took a silver and a bronze this morning.

Wushu will continue in the afternoon and golden hopes are on sanda (combat) athletes.

Việt Nam sent three fighters to the finals matches. They are Nguyễn Thị Chinh in the women's 48kg, Bùi Trường Giang in the men's 60kg and Nguyễn Thị Trang in the women's 65kg.

Việt Nam's second gold went to weightlifter Hoàng Thi Duyên.

Duyên triumphed in the women's 59kg class after her total lift of 210kg, leaving her rivals far behind in the ranking.
