QUANG NINH — Ha Long City authorities have called on the Quang Ninh Inland Waterway Port Authority to suspend the licences of 20 cruise ships operating in Ha Long and Bai Tu Long Bays for failing to install automatic fire alarm systems in their engine rooms, news website Vietnamplus reported.
The city had told the owners of the vessels to promptly comply with the requirement to ensure the safety of passengers.
The vessels are operated by Son Tung Travel and Trade Co, Quyet Thanh Dat Tourism Service Investment Co, and Ha Long resident Pham Nang Minh.
The suspension will remain in force until the city government revokes it.
According to regulations, every cruise ship operating in Ha Long and Bai Tu Long Bays must have a surveillance camera installed in its engine room and a screen in the cabin, fire extinguishers and automatic fire alarm systems. — VNS
