HCM CITY — Twenty tour operators and hospitality firms in the central province of Quang Binh and 60 travel firms in HCM City met at the Quang Binh Province Tourism Roadshow yesterday to explore cooperation opportunities.

The roadshow in HCM City, with the theme “Quang Binh Tourism: Different Experiences” introduced new tourism products and services, Dang Dong Ha, deputy director of Quang Binh Province’s Department of Tourism, said.

In the past few years, the number of tourists visiting the province has risen strongly, from one million arrivals in 2012 to four million this year.

HCM City is a major domestic tourist market for the province.

The province has rich tourism resources and huge potential for tourism development, especially adventure tourism, eco-tourism, community-based tourism and cultural heritage tourism, according to Ha.

More than 30 hotel and resort projects are under construction, including FLC Golf Link, Bao Ninh-Hai Ninh golf court, Bao Ninh Truong Thinh golf court, Pullman Hotel, and Movenpick Hotel.

The province has encouraged investors to build three- or four-star hotels in Dong Thoi Town and two- or three-star hotels in Phong Nha-Ke Bang.

Surrounded by fields, mountains, rivers, jungle, ocean and islands, the area is a heaven for exploring and travel experiences, with at least 25 popular tourist destinations in the province.

The Son Doong cave, recognised as the world’s largest cave, is 7.3 kilometres in length, 150 metres in height, and 200 metres in width.

Tours of Son Doong cave are well known among foreign tourists, Ha said.

The En (Swallow) cave, the third largest cave in the world, is also a popular site for many foreign tourists.

The world heritage site, Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, has a majestic cave system and underground river systems that attract tourists from around the world.

With more than 116 kilometres of pristine beaches, many beach resorts are opening along Nhat Le beach, Da Nhay beach, and Bao Ninh peninsula.

The province is home to nearly 300 hotels and resorts and 300 eateries and restaurants.

The province has more than 40 travel firms, including 14 foreign operators. —VNS
