HCM CITY — Ninh Duong Lan Ngoc, a rising film star in Viet Nam, will be the lead actress in the upcoming action film Gang Tay Do (Red Gloves).
In the film, the 26-year-old actress will play a gangster with a strong personality and she will perform dangerous action sequences, something of a departure from the softer characters she played in the Canh Dong Bat Tan (Floating Lives) and Trung So (Jackpot) that won her the Golden Kite Best Actress award in 2010 and 2015.
Red Gloves is the story of a female gangster called Seven who rediscovers herself. She was trained to be a lethal weapon, till her return to Viet Nam where she learns about life values and gradually turns into a good person.
Directed by Nguyen Tuan Anh, Red Gloves features various elements such as good and evil, defenders and destroyers of justice, tragedy and humour. It will be released nationwide on September 2.
Ngoc is a rising actress, who has acted in many major films including Teo Em (Little Teo) or Vua Di Vua Khoc (Walking, Crying). She is among the few actresses to have won the prestigious Golden Kite Best Actress award twice.
The actress had to train strenuously for her role in Red Gloves, from fighting to riding high-speed motorbikes.—VNS
