HA NOI (VNS) — David Dufour, the highly acclaimed and vastly popular Francophone hip-hop artist and slam poet from Canada, will perform tonight (March 2) and tomorrow night (March 3) in HCM City.
He will present his own poetry and an overview of the history of slam poetry. He will also discuss his art, share the originality and depth of his texts to lovers of the French language and of Canadian performance art.
The cultural exchange, entitled le Francais, j'adore (French, I Love), is part of the event series to celebrate the La Francophonie (March) month.
The Canadian slam poet also taught slam poetry to lecturers and students in Ha Noi University yesterday, to inspire a creative way of learning and teaching of the French language.
Also known as D-Track, Dufour has shown and taught his art for more than 10 years. He has released five independent albums since 2005, which have brought him respect and critical acclaim. Recipient of the Radio-Canada "Coup de coeur" for Emergent Artist Award in 2013, he represented the Quebec Province the following year at the Slam World Cup in Paris, where he was named the world's fourth best slam poet.
D-track's performance will be held at 6.30pm tonight at l'Espace, the French Cultural Centre, located at 24 Trang Tien Street, Ha Noi. — VNS
