HA NOI — The 2018 Ha Noi International Piano Festival will begin a week of piano masterclasses, conferences and workshops at the National Academy of Music this Saturday.
Nearly 50 pianists from Viet Nam, Japan, Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Poland, Canada, the US and Australia will take part in the masterclasses.
Vietnamese-Canadian pianist Dang Thai Son is the Artistic Director of the festival and will award 10 scholarships for excellent pianists.

Professors who will provide masterclasses include pianist Son, Prof Susumu Aoyagi (Japan), Prof Tai-Cheng Chen (US-Taiwan), Prof Tran Thu Ha (Viet Nam) and Prof Katzyna Popowa-Zydron (Poland).
Participants will play on Steinway, Yamaha and Kawaii pianos.
