HA NOI — Model Hoang Thuy wore a glowing dress worth VND100 million (US$4,300) at the WeChoice Awards 2017. The dress was designed by Tran Hung.
Thuy, the first runner-up at Miss Universe Viet Nam 2017, is a nominee in the Top 10 Inspiring People category of WeChoice Awards organised by kenh14 online newspaper. She was born into a poor family in the central province of Thanh Hoa. She was an architecture student before winning Viet Nam’s Next Top Model in 2011. She was also a mentor in the modelling reality television series, The Face Viet Nam 2017.
After Thuy was crowned the first runner-up at Miss Universe Viet Nam 2017, her dressing style has undergone a drastic change from sexy and strong to elegant and luxurious.
Her dress at the red carpet was made of optic fibre imported from the United States and organza material from South Korea. The optic fibre created rays of colourful luminesce at night. More than 5,000 optic fibres had been attached to the dress by hand by 10 workers over three months. — VNS
