HA NOI — A circus performance dedicated to heroes who sacrificed their lives for national independence will take place on July 27 (Martyrs’ Day) in Ha Noi.
Director Tong Toan Thang said it was the first time the Viet Nam Circus Federation had organised the event.
“We’re targeting the younger generation who should pay gratitude to the fallen soldiers and those who contributed to the resistance war,” said Thang.
“The performance will commemorate the fallen martyrs and raise people’s awareness of patriotism.”
“We will combine songs and performing arts with images of soldiers and young people who volunteered to go to the front and famous heroes like Vo Thi Sau (1933-1952).”
The highlight of the programme is a piece dedicated to heroine Vo Thi Sau. Joining the revolutionary movement at the age of 14, Sau was eventually caught and sentenced to death by the French. At the execution, the young girl refused to be blindfolded, wanting to admire the landscape and sing till her last breath. The inspiring story of Sau will be told through the performance of tightrope performers and dances involving silk ribbons.
Thang said all proceeds from ticket sales would be given to the families of martyrs and war invalids.
The performance will take place at the Central Circus, 67-69 Tran Nhan Tong Street, Ha Noi. — VNS
