HCM CITY — A Vietnamese comedy drama Mùa Hè Đẹp Nhất (The Beautiful Summer) about friendship and youth promises to bring moviegoers back to their younger years this summer.
Directed by Vũ Khắc Tuận, the movie focuses on the friendship and love of a group of five college students, four men and a woman, who make a promise of a trip together to celebrate their youth. However, the trip could not happen.
Many years later, the four men suddenly meet again when they are 60, and then decide to fulfill their promise.
The movie features performances from established actors People’s Artists Thanh Nam and Việt Anh, Meritorious Artist Công Ninh and Đức Sơn, who play four men in their 60s.
The production also highlights emerging actors Công Dương, Minh Dự, Nguyễn Tụ, Trần Nghĩa and Khánh Vân, who play young students.
Nguyễn Ngọc Nga from Đồng Nai Province, after watching the movie’s teaser on YouTube, said: “I like the movie’s topic and colour, and the scenes are beautiful as well. Mostly, I am impressed with a cast of established actors. I think the movie will bring us both laughter and tears remembering beautiful memories of youth.”
Mùa Hè Đẹp Nhất is the directorial debut of Tuận, who is known for editing several top grossing Vietnamese films such as Tháng Năm Rực Rỡ (Go-go Sisters) in 2018, Bố Già (Dad, I’m Sorry) in 2021, Nhà Bà Nữ (The House of No Man) in 2023, and Mai in 2024.
