HÀ NỘI The Friends of Việt Nam Heritage will hold its monthly book club event on March 9.
Starting at 7pm, the will be themed “I’m a Woman” with Vietnamese author Y Ban. The book includes 10 short stories which all portray image of women from different angles.
Not only explaining the psychology of women, through the stories, Ban also highlights their endless desire. Her vulnerable characters have been put into different contexts to expose their personal egos so they find themselves torn between choices.
Y Ban, whose real name is Phạm Thị Xuân Ban, is a writer, poet and journalist. Her book I'm a Woman was first published in 2006, and Này Hỏi Thật Đã Thấy Gì Chưa Đấy? (Hey, Have You Really Seen Anything?) was released in 2011. They were both banned in the country for a certain time.
