Xuân Diệu has been dubbed “the king of love poems”.
HÀ NỘI The Friends of Việt Nam Heritage’s Bookclub in October will be dedicated to the Love Poems by Xuân Diệu (1916-1985), one of Việt Nam’s most prolific and well-known poets.
Love Poems is a collection of translated poems on the theme of love composed by the poet, who has been dubbed “the king of love poems”.
“With his works, Xuân Diệu has built a significant position in Vietnamese literature,” said poet and literature critic Vũ Quần Phương. “By reading his poems, people can wallow in a space of love, youth and vitality. His poems are bright, innocent and vivid. People may say a picture is worth a thousand words. In my opinion, his words are full of pictures.”
The reading and discussion will take place from 7pm until 9pm on October 3 at the Casa Italia, Carlo Urbani Library (2nd floor), 18 Lê Phụng Hiểu Street. To join, register with Maria by emailing maria.benimeo@gmail.com. VNS
