HÀ NỘI — Is there anything better than a happy family?
Well now you can see for yourself, at a photographic exhibition that opened in Hà Nội on Thursday.
The images displayed are winners of a competition that opened in June to celebrate Vietnamese Family Day (June 28).
After six months, the organising board received 1,000 photos sent by more than 200 photographers nationwide, according to Người Hà Nội (Hanoians) newspaper’s editor-in-chief Đào Xuân Hưng, head of the organising board.
“We select 70 excellent photos to grant prizes and exhibit, regretfully no entry meets the criteria to receive first prize,” he said.
Two second prizes went to Tết Vùng Cao (Tết in Mountainous Region) by Dương Phượng Đại and Tình Già (Love of Elders) by Nguyễn Văn Tuấn.
“The entries send messages of happiness, love and sharing between family members,” Hưng said.
“The selected photos are highly appreciated by the judge thanks to their content, message and art.”
Some photos depict the daily life of a family, how people care of each other and simple connection expressed through a smile and an eye contact. Some describe the activities of families in rural areas and mountainous regions.
The contest is a meaningful activity to honour culture and humanity of Vietnamese people and spread love in the community, said Hưng.
The exhibition will run until Sunday at the Vietnamese Women’s Museum, 36 Lý Thường Kiệt Street, Hà Nội. VNS
