DA NANG — More than 150 contestants will race in the first ‘Run for Son Tra’, a charty run raising funds to protect Son Tra Nature Reserve in Son Tra Mountain on December 10th.

The race organising committee said the race offers a 5km race and a 16km race from the bottom of the mountain to the peak at 600m above sea level.

Runners will be able to experience the nature beauty of the 4,400ha reserve, just 10km from the city’s downtown, while joining a fund raising for protection of the reserve and population of the red-shanked douc langur – an endangered primate.

Entrance in the 5km race costs VND300,000 (US$13.3) per person and VND500,000 ($22.1) each for the 16km route

Participants can register at http://channau.org/chayvisontra.

The Son Tra Nature Reserve, known for its rich biodiversity, is home to more than 1,300 red-shanked douc langurs and over 1,000 plants and 370 animal species. — VNS
