HÀ NỘI — Tày artist Vi Việt Nga’s first solo exhibition opens at Việt Nam Museum of Fine Arts on November 15.
Entitled Bản Sắc (Identity), the exhibition includes 25 wood engravings by Nga which depict the beauty of daily life and natural landscapes in mountainous areas.
“I love nature and ethnic groups,” said Nga. “Wood engraving has a plain beauty and I think it suits me.”
All the works have been made this year.
Born in the northern mountainous province of Lạng Sơn, she showed an early interest in fine arts. With a rich imagination, every time she looked at the clouds in the sky she drew her own colourful stories.

Nga studied painting at Việt Bắc Culture and Arts School and graphic design at Hà Nội Open University.
The exhibition opening ceremony will begin at 5pm at 66 Nguyễn Thái Học Street. A collection of áo dài will be displayed at the ceremony. The collection is made from the artist’s works.
The exhibition will run until November 17. — VNS
