The posters are from a collection by Italian businessman Francesco Augusto Razetto, chairman of the foundation.

“This event will boost mutual understanding and traditional friendship between Vietnamese and Slovakian,” said Vietnamese ambassador Dương Trọng Minh at the opening ceremony.

“It is also a chance for international friends to learn about Việt Nam which is a brave nation and is really fond of peace.”

The collection includes anonymous pieces because many artists died in the battle after they drew the posters, according to the ambassador.

“We want to introduce to Slovakian and international friends history of the national struggle to defend and construction in the past and current development of Việt Nam."

“These are very precious works of art that I have been collecting in Việt Nam for 12 years,” said Razetto.

“I select the works with themes important to Việt Nam and I think that they will get more value to be popularised in Europe countries.”

The collection has been exhibited in some countries such as Czech Republic, Italy and Croatia.  It was also displayed at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels which has attracted the attention of audience.

More than 200 guests were at the exhibition opening ceremony. It runs until September 22. — VNS
