Visitors to Tao Dan Park in HCM City’s District 1 on Sunday mornings can find a quiet book reading corner for the public.
Ngo Lan Phuc Vy, a teacher at Dang Tran Con Elementary School in District 4, and his wife are running it comics, novels and books on literature, economics and foreign languages.
Vy said they have been running it for nearly three years with co-operation from MY (Make It Yourself) Library, a non-profit club that seeks to foster a reading habit, especially among kids.
Open from 7.30am to noon, it attracts hundreds of book enthusiasts, children and people coming to the park for a spot of exercise.
Readers can borrow books for reading at home free of cost.

Many parents say they bring their children there to read books instead of sitting at home to watch TV or play online games. — VNS
