HCM CITY — A photo exhibition featuring Vietnamese soldiers is being shown on HCM City’s Nguyễn Huệ Pedestrian Street as part of the city’s cultural activities to mark the 75th anniversary of Việt Nam People’s Army on December 22.
The event, Quân Đội Nhân Dân Việt Nam Anh Hùng (The Heroic Việt Nam People’s Army), displays 100 black-and-white and colour photos featuring the army’s beginning and developments.
The army, under the leadership of the Vietnamese Communist Party and with the support of the Vietnamese people, developed from a small team founded in a forest of the northern province of Cao Bằng to the large and powerful force it is today.
It faced and overcame huge challenges to preserve its prestigious spirit of an “army of the people and for the people”.
Highlighted photos capture soldiers served in French and American wars. Works on soldiers living in the seas and islands are also included.
Speaking at the event’s opening ceremony on Thursday, the deputy chairman of the city’s People’s Committee, Ngô Minh Châu, said: ”The exhibition’s photos are about Vietnamese soldiers and their contributions to our country.”
“The images of soldiers at the exhibition helped children and young people learn more about history and improve their love for the country,” Trần Anh Khôi, a ninth-grade student from Phú Nhuận District, said.
The exhibition will close on December 28. — VNS
