Russian Days begin on Sunday

HA NOI — An eight-day Russian culture festival will be held in Ha Noi, Da Nang and HCM City from Sunday.

Viet Nam's Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Russian Culture ministries are co-sponsors of the festival.

About 75 artists from three Russian art troupes will be performing over the eight days, which will feature art exhibitions, classical concerts and films.

Book celebrates Ha Noi music

HA NOI — A book entitled 1,000 Years of Thang Long-Ha Noi's Music was launched in Ha Noi on Wednesday.

The five-volume collection features nha nhac (court music), ca tru (ceremonial singing), folk music, religious music and reformed traditional music from the Ly, Tran and Le dynasties to present.

Italian books published in VN

HA NOI — Two books on Italy and Italian customs were released today in Ha Noi.

Published in Vietnamese by The Gioi Publishers and Nha Nam Publisher, the books provide information on tourism spots, fashion shops and food stores in Italy that are likely to appeal to tourists from Viet Nam.

Italian Ambassador to Viet Nam Andrea Perugini said he hoped the books would encourage more Vietnamese tourists to visit Italy.

Singapore hosts VN art show

HA NOI — An exhibition on Vietnamese art opens today at Black Earth Culture Art Centre in Singapore.

A Touch of Viet Nam includes mainstream contemporary works by eight Vietnamese artists.

The exhibition, the second to be held in Singapore, will run until November 27.

Ronan Keating to play Nha Trang

NHA TRANG — Ronan Keating from Boyzone will perform on the final night of Miss Earth 2010 in Nha Trang's Vinpearland.

Ronan will sing When You Say Nothing At All, which featured in the movie Notting Hill.

The final, which takes place on December 4, will be aired live by Viet Nam Television, Filipino Channel and Star World.

Oliver Pettigrew, owner of the Sony Style channel in Asia will be MC on the night.

Writing contest on water saving

HA NOI — The Water Resource Management Department in co-operation with Viet Nam Television and the Viet Nam Cinematography Association has launched a script writing contest on the theme of water conservation.

Scripts, which must be in short film or documentary style, should be sent to the Water Resource Management Department before December 31.

The awards ceremony will be held next March.
