Tiki, FAHASA commit to offer quality books

HCM CITY The e-commerce site Tiki and the HCM City Book Distribution Corporation (FAHASA) have signed a strategic co-operation agreement to offer quality books with clearly defined sources.

Under the two-year agreement, more than 30,000 book titles from different fields distributed by FAHASA are now available on Tiki.vn.

Stationery and educational products from FAHASA’s domestic and international suppliers are also included.

The co-operation will bring customers quality products, discount policies, and fast delivery services.

"As a leader in book distribution in Việt Nam, FAHASA now has 110 bookstores across the country and its revenue this year is estimated to reach VNĐ3.6 trillion (US$154.8 million),” Phạm Minh Thuận, CEO of FAHASA, said on Monday.

“From the co-operation between FAHASA and Tiki, one of the country’s leading e-commerce platforms, both companies are ensuring to become a trusted place for more and more educational products with clear sources to more than 95 million Vietnamese.”

Trần Ngọc Thái Sơn, founder and CEO of Tiki, said: “The co-operation will open up opportunities to promote cultural products and enrich the country’s reading culture.”

Sơn said that many copyrighted books had not been published for up to 10 years because the publishers did not have enough information on whether the books would be successful.

The cooperation between Tiki and Fahasa will offer information about  customers’ demands and what they need, which will help publishers understand the market and introduce more quality books to customers.

According to the Department of Publishing, Printing and Distribution, around 32,000 book titles were released in 2018.

More than 390 million book copies were printed last year, an increase of 20.6 per cent compared to 2017.

Sơn said studies in 2018 showed that Vietnamese were reading only 1.2 books a year. As a result, Tiki and FAHASA decided to join hands to promote the reading habit to the entire community, targeting at least four books read per Vietnamese a year. VNS
