HCM CITY – Sự Mê Hoặc Từ Nghệ Thuật Xăm Mình (Enchantment from Tattoo Art) by tattoo creator Trần Nhật Trung, aka Trung Tadashi, was hailed as the first Việt Nam book about oriental tattoo art in Vietnamese and English by the Viêt Nam Records Organisation (VietKings).
A ceremony was held at Capella gallery hall in District 10 on April 12.
Enchantment from Tattoo Art, published by HCM City General Publishing House, will help readers learn about Asian-style tattoos, including Vietnamese cultural beauty themes, epic Chinese mythology themes, and Japanese cultural themes.
A representative of VietKings, Võ Lưu Lan Uyên, said that Tattooing originates from the ancient customs of Việt Nam and had a strong development in the Lý - Trần dynasties.
However, tattoos nowadays are not popular in Việt Nam.
The book of Trung Tadashi has contributed to a better understanding of the origin, history, and values of tattoo art in Việt Nam and Asia, as well as the deep techniques needed to create a tattoo, she added.
