VIFW show dominates fashion season in Hà Nội

Designer Dinh Van Tho creates matching ao dai for women and men.
Viet Nam News

HA NOI — The third night of the ongoing Vietnam International Week (VIFW) features the latest fashion collections, displaying the contrasting styles of the finest Ao Dai of Viet Nam, the high life of Paris and the darker street scenes of inner city boys.

The Ao Dai ABC by Dinh Van Tho collection offers an impression of the high life from a past that’s long gone. All of its signature long tunic dresses are made from organza in black, red and dark green hues, and ornately hand-embroidered.

The collection was highlighted by the Truong thi May 10-kilogramme headdress with an embroidered peacock cape.

Next comes the dreamy collection from Priyo Oktaviano of Indonesia. It features fine floral laces with beads in creamy colours. Titled “Potpouri”, the collection offered a feast to the eyes.

The second segment of the show brought together designers of very different styles: Vu Ta Linh represented the luxury Luala house, as well as a romantic Parisian feel by Xuan Le and inner city gang-like styles of the baseball boys.

As the fashion show ends this Sunday, followers of fashion in Ha Noi have been feasting on the best week of fashion events, latest designer collections, style seminars, street fashion shows and opportunities to purchase the designs they see on catwalks.

More impressive designs are awaiting tonight’s two slots. —VNS
