HÀ NỘI — Seven new records were set at the National Shooting Cup which concluded in Hà Nội on Thursday.
The Military team shone with six records including the women’s team 10m air rifle, women’s 10m air pistol and 50m rifle three-position. HCM City claimed the other record in the team’s 10m mixed air rifle.
After 10 days of competition, the Military team topped the medals tally with 21 golds, 19 silvers and seven bronzes. Hà Nội were the runners-up with seven golds, four silvers and eight bronzes. Hải Dương came third with five golds, three silvers and three bronzes.
“We highly appreciate the efforts of the athletes who set new national records even though we are applying new international competition rules. However, we have to familiarise ourselves with this and quickly move to the world arena,” said deputy chairwoman and general secretary of the Việt Nam Shooting Federation, Nguyễn Thị Nhung.
The event had the participation of 157 athletes from 12 localities and units nationwide.
The event was a warm-up for Vietnamese shooters to prepare for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) in the Philippines later this year. — VNS
