HA NOI — Son Eunju of South Korea’s Sangyang triumphed in the third stage of the Binh Duong International Women’s Cycling Tournament - Biwase Cup 2019 on Sunday.
Son won the 112km stage from Bao Loc to Da Lat City, which she completed in 3:25.10 with an average speed of 32.754 km/h.
Phetdarin Somrat of Thailand and Tsubasa Makise of Biwase-Binh Duong were the runners-up.
Although Kashiki Shoko of Japan didn’t finish in the top three, she still held on to the yellow jersey with the best total time of 8:19.58 after three stages, followed by her compatriots Kaneko Hiromi and Tsubasa Makise.
Jutatip Maneephan of Thailand won the green jersey as the best sprinter with 30 points. South Korean Son was in second place in the race for the green jersey with 29 points.
Nguyen Thi Kim Cuong of Can Tho took the white jersey as the best young cyclist, while Kashiki Shoko won the red jersey as the Queen of Mountain with 50 points.
In the team rankings, Japan’s youth team took the lead with a total time of 25:09.46, followed by Japan’s High Ambition 2020 and Biwase Binh Duong.
The event attracted more than 90 cyclists from nine local and seven foreign teams, competing in nine stages over a total length of 850km.
Cash prizes will amount to nearly VND400 million (about US$17,100). — VNS
