QUANG NINH — The 2019 cherry blossom – Yen Tu yellow ochna flower festival will open at the Yen Tu Truc Lam culture centre in Quang Ninh Province’s Uong Bi City on Saturday.
The annual festival will showcase about 100 cherry blossom trees and 5,000 cherry blossom branches from Japan as well as 200 Yen Tu yellow ochna flower trees. The trees will be displayed at the foot of Yen Tu Mountain in Thuong Yen Cong Ward.
The festival will have a wide range of Vietnamese and Japanese cultural activities and art performances. It will also introduce specialty products of the northern province and Japan. The festival ends on March 17.
Yen Tu yellow ochna trees normally bloom in lunar February, one month after the yellow ochna trees in the south. Yen Tu Mountain, which is located between Quang Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, has breathtaking scenery and many ancient pagodas. — VNS
