HA NOI — Vietnamese film My Nhan (The Beautiful Woman) by director Dinh Thai Thuy will open the APEC Film Week 2017, which runs this week in Ha Noi and Da Nang in conjuction with APEC Viet Nam 2017.

The movie tells the life story of Nguyen Phuc Tan (1620-87), the fourth ruler of the Nguyen Lords, known as a good leader and a military genius, and his tragic love with Thi Thua, a beautiful concubine disdained by his courtiers despite her pure soul.

The film week will take place on October 11-16 in Ha Noi and on October 12-16 in Da Nang. The film week is also intended to raise the profile of the APEC forum among locals while publicising the culture and people of Viet Nam to international friends.

Nine feature films and two documentaries from 11 APEC member economies, including Children of China from China, Blue Moon from Chinese Taipei, My Nhan from Viet Nam, I’m Still Here from Peru, Tsukiji Wonderland from Japan, My Paparotti from South Korea, Nokas from Indonesia, The Age of Pioneers from Russia, Jack of the Red Hearts from the United States, Violeta Went to Heaven from Chile and The Dressmaker from Australia will be screened in the week.
