HA NOI — A contemporary art collection of 12 sculptures created by six rising Asian artists has been presented to Ha Noi’s art lovers at the Green Palm Gallery.
The display is part of the Southeast Asian tour of the Bold. Art Exhibition, which showcases artworks by artists coming from Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
Following the theme Rooted in the Past, Looking into the Future, each artist produced their artworks reflecting their view point on the theme.
Vietnamese artist Nguyen Ngoc Lam created a bronze sculpture and a group of three other small sculptures, which he entitled Tree, and Seeds, respectively.
"The tree, with its roots, trunk and crown symbolises thien - dia - nhan (sky, land, human) -- three fundamental elements that Oriental people believe can create success," the artist explaind about Tree.
"You can’t gain success and stable development without one of those elements," he added.
Unhusked rice brought the inspiration for the artist’s sculptures Seeds.
"The Seeds presents Viet Nam’s wet rice civilisation, which is the source of our history and culture," Lam said.
This is the first time Bold. Art Exhibition has been organised in Viet Nam with high expectations that Vietnamese sculptural artists will be inspired and introduce Vietnamese culture to the world, as well as providing the public with an opportunity to enjoy creative art pieces. The exhibition was presented to public in HCM City earlier in July.
Alongside creative sculptures, the event also features the artisan premium sinks from the Artist Editions of Kohler, in which the Derring sink - the latest product from Kohler - is highlighted thanks to its outstandingly fine patterns along the basin that were masterfully crafted by hand.
Brought to the country by Kohler Vietnam, the free to enter Bold. Art Exhibition opens to public until August 16, at the Green Palm Gallery, 15 Trang Tien Street. — VNS
