HCM CITY— Two hundred ponds with many kinds of ornamental fish and 80 booths featuring fish breeding equipment are on display at the fourth Ornamental Fish Festival in HCM City.
The annual festival, held by the HCM City Investment and Trade Promotion Centre (ITPC), kicked off on Thursday evening at the Phú Thọ Sports Centre in District 11.
This year, the festival has an area devoted to biological products such as microbiological medicine and vaccines for caring for ornamental fish.
Visitors and ornamental fish enthusiasts will have a chance to learn more about different species of ornamental fish.
The event is also a place for businesses and breeders to exchange experiences, expand linkages in production, and promote ornamental fish to the market.
HCM City has more than 20 establishments and companies that export ornamental fish to 46 countries in the EU, Asia, the Americas and South Africa.
According to the city’s Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, in the first nine months of the year, the city exported 16 million ornamental fish worth more than US$18.3 million, an increase of 5 per cent in export value compared to the same period last year.
