HÀ NỌI — Composers and peformers will gather to present new compositions at the third Asia-Europe New Musical Festival 2018 which will take place in Hà Nọi on November 24-28.

Organised by the Viẹt Nam Musicians Association, this year’s festival will take the theme “The Asia-Europe Musical Bridge”.

According to composer Dõ Hòng Quan, the chairman of the association, the event would show off Viẹt Nam’s musical achievements.

It would create an opportunity for international composers to understand more about Viẹt Nam’s people, traditions, culture and music, which would contribute to enhancing the mutual relationship between Vietnamese artists and international friends, he added.

The festival will gather over 200 composers and performers from 30 countries, and feature symphony, choral, opera, chamber and traditional folk performances.

The compositions, which have been selected from 200 works submitted from around the world, showcase original national characters.

The opening ceremony will open on November 24 at the Hanoi Opera House under the lead of conductor Honna Tetsuji from Japan and Zoe Zeniodi from Greece, with 11 compostions by the Viẹt Nam National Symphony Orchestra.

The closing ceremony will be held on November 27 at the Viẹt Nam National Academy of Music under the lead of conductor Olivier Ochanie from France, featuring works by composers from Japan, Russia, Australia, Kazakhstan, Viet Nam, the Philippines, Netherlands and Uzbekistan performed by the Sun Symphony Orchestra.
