HCM CITY – More than 300,000 copies of books from 80 local and international publishers and distributors are being offered at the 2018 Summer Book Fair at the HCM City Exhibition Centre until July 8.
Books about literature, history, culture, economics and comics from Viet Nam’s leading publishing houses like Tre, Kim Dong and Nha Nam are on sale at the fair.
Best-selling titles by Vietnamese authors Nguyen Nhat Anh, Tony Buoi Sang, Trac Nha and Rosie Nguyen are included.
The fair also offers English-language dictionaries, reference books, children’s books and Japanese manga from international publishers.
The Harry Potter books by internationally acclaimed author J K Rowling and A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin will be on sale.
All books are discounted up to 80 per cent. A 10-50 per cent discount for textbooks, reference books and stationery is also being offered to students for the upcoming school year.
Huynh Thi Minh Chau, a spokeswoman for the HCM City Book Distribution Corporation (FAHASA), the fair’s organiser, said: “The Summer Book Fair is FAHASA’s annual event to satisfy readers, particularly students and children.”
Tran Minh Anh, a mother of a 6-year-old girl and four-year-old son, said she was excited to buy books and stationery at bargain prices to prepare her daughter for school life.
“The books are super cheap. Just VND10,000 for a picture book for children.”
The Summer Book Fair is open from 8am-10 pm until July 8. The exhibition centre is located at 92 Le Thanh Ton Street in District 1. – VNS
