PARIS – Vietnamese-French Devon Nguyen debuted her latest collection at Paris Fashion Week last week.

Devon’s Fall-Winter 2017 collection, entitled Wanderlust, was inspired by voyages around the world. As the first Vietnamese designer to have been selected to perform during the main schedule of Paris Fashion Week, Devon’s designs featured the ‘underwearless’ trend.

Some models were not wearing underwear while showing off see-through dresses on the catwalk.

Devon’s voyages were presented through images of paper airplanes, fluffy clouds, stamps and handwriting. They were printed on a series of outfits, including crop-tops, bomber jackets, a-line skirts, and tight dresses.

The colour, claims Devon, is the harmonious combination of pastel blue and black, interspersed with shades of orange and red.

The 29-year-old designer also used some corset designs, a throwback to last year, presented with a black corset covering a white shirt. Sequin style, she said, has never gone out of fashion, and several of her designs followed this trend.

Devon also introduced a large suit with 3D patterns on the back, accompanying by accessories like Vietnamese-style hand woven sedge bags with sequin patterns.

Paris Fashion Week 2017 started on February 28 and will end today. VNS
