Watercolour painting exhibition celebrates National Day

HCM CITY— A new exhibition of 78 thuy mac (ink and wash) watercolour paintings by 40 Chinese-Vietnamese artists has opened at the HCM City Fine Arts Association.  

The event is part of the association’s activities to celebrate the 73rd anniversary of National Day on September 2.

Veteran painters Truong Han Minh, Ly Tung Nien, Ly Khac Nhu and Truong Lo are among the group presenting their works.

All of the paintings were selected form the artists’ latest collections, featuring the beauty of Viet Nam and its people.

Highlighted works portray the daily life of people living in remote northern provinces and islands.

The paintings of Minh, a master of thuy mac art, have impressed viewers. He uses traditional Chinese ink techniques to portray Vietnamese objects and send messages about love and peace.

Minh was born in Cho Lon (Big Market) in HCM City’s District 5. He has more than 60 years of experience in watercolour painting.

He has exhibited at many solo and group exhibitions in Viet Nam as well as in France, the US, China, Japan and Australia.

He works for several art schools in the city and in southern provinces, and is chairman of the Fine Arts Cub of Chinese-Vietnamese Artists and a member of the Viet Nam Fine Arts Association.

The show was organised by the association and the Fine Arts Club of Chinese-Vietnamese Artists.

It is being held at 218A Pasteur Street, District 3, through September 2. It is open from 9am to 6pm. — VNS
