HCM CITY — Artist Van Ngoc's paintings are abstract, but border on installation because of his use of materials such as wood and glass on his canvas.

He has on display 52 works at an exhibition that opened in HCM City on Thursday titled Hoi hoa ung xu (The Arts of Behaviour).

The works themselves are titled Ung Xu (Behaviour) and numbered from one to 52.

Ngoc refused to comment on or describe his works: "I don't want to impose my thoughts on viewers. Let them see and feel it themselves.

"I hope audiences see my purpose as well as my ideas through the paintings."

Huynh Van Muoi, chairman of the HCM City Fine Arts Association, said the artist let the public freely enjoy and interact with his works so that they can meditate on the way they live and behave towards others and nature.

Ngoc, who graduated from the Viet Nam Fine Arts University, is a member of the association.

Hoi hoa ung xu is on at the HCM City Fine Arts Museum, 97A Pho Duc Chinh, District 1, until November 29. — VNS
