HCM CITY — Putri Norizah Binti Ibnoriza, a 20-year-old singer from Brunei, has won the Duyen Dang Truyen Hinh (Charming Television) pageant for female television personalities from ASEAN member countries.

Vietnamese actress Van Trang won second prize as well as the Favourite Contestant and Friendly Contestant awards while Rose Ann Uy Aguilar, a model from the Philippines won third.

At the HCM City Television (HTV) Theatre, 18 editors, MCs, reporters, and performers working for TV stations in Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Viet Nam took part in two preliminary rounds and a final.

On the opening night last Monday they took part in a traditional national costumes contest and on Wednesday, they posed in ao dais.

On both days they also showed off their talents in singing and dancing, which enabled Ibnoriza to reign supreme as she displayed a power and emotional range that impressed the jury.

At the final on Saturday, involving the five best from the preliminary rounds, contestants modelled in evening dresses and fielded questions from the jury.

The events were broadcast live on HTV 9.
