HCM City hosts 3X art show

HCM CITY — An exhibition of "diversified art" created by an interaction between the "unknown, the search and the discovery" is currently open in HCM City.

3X, as the art show is called, features 23 large-sized oil paintings by three artists with different backgrounds and different styles.

Nguyen Quang Vinh graduated with an MFA from the V A Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute in Russia. He is currently an art lecturer at the HCM City Fine Arts College.

His works have been described as an abstract world with "miraculous instants of deep feeling".

Le Kinh Tai, a graduate of the city's Fine Arts College has a liberal hand-drawing style that uses human faces with animal appearances to express the comic and tragic aspects of life.

The final artist in the trio is Le Vo Tuan, a graduate of the Hue Fine Arts College, whose art tells the story of common people and royalty with a serious, careful approach.

One art collector said Tai's bold strokes demonstrated a profound imagination.

She also said Tuan's work was a little ornate. "I don't say it's not good but I don't see myself buying his work," she said.

The exhibition is open until Thursday, at 218A Pasteur Street, District 3, HCM City. — VNS
