HCM CITY — A street exhibition featuring photographs of Agent Orange victims opened yesterday on HCM City's Dong Khoi Street. It will close on August 10, the national day that remembers AO victims.

The event is part of several activities organised by the HCM City Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin to mark the day.

This is the first-ever photo exhibition with large-scale works that depict the AO victims' struggle for their rights.

The collection of 30 photographs, called Agent Orange–Message from the Heart, were taken by 14 photojournalists in HCM City and Tien Giang Province between April and May.

The exhibition is in two areas. The first, near Vincom Tower, showcases the victims' will to overcome their destinies and become part of the community.

It also documents the affection and work of their families, relatives and the entire society here and abroad in their assistance to AO victims.

The other photos are hung on the outer wall of the HCM City Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism, including 50x70cm images that depict the pain of victims suffering from the after-effects of the toxic chemical dioxin.

The 14 photographers have donated their work to the War Remnants Museum in HCM City.

As part of the national Orange Day, the association and Sai Gon Media Company will organise a concert next Tuesday night at the HCM City Opera House.

Besides popular singers Tran Hieu, Quang Ly, Nhat Sinh, Ta Minh Tam, Anh Tuyet and The Hien, the duo Thanh Ha–Thanh Hang, who have both been affected by AO, and guitarist Le Van O will perform. —VNS
