VNA launches Japanese website

HA NOI — The Japanese-language version of the Vietnam News Agency's website was launched yesterday. Japanese readers will be able to read about events relating to the 1,000th anniversary of Ha Noi on the new website.

With support from the Japanese Embassy in Viet Nam, the site – http://jp.hanoi.vietnamplus.vn – is aiming to promote the image of the 1,000-year-old capital to Japanese people.

"An increasing number of Japanese people come to the Ha Noi every year, however, many people have a difficult time searching for information in Japanese," said Japanese Ambassador Sakaba Mitsuo. "That's why this site is the most effective way to help them get closer to Ha Noi".

The ambassador also lauded VNA's online newspaper VietnamPlus because the "[newspaper] has become the first mainstream newspaper in Viet Nam released in Japanese."

VNA Deputy General Director Ha Minh Hue said the site's launch was meaningful for Viet Nam and Japan, who had raised their relations to a strategic partnership.

Launched in April, the website, which is focusing on the city's 1,000th anniversary, is now available in five languages, including Vietnamese, English, French, Spanish and Japanese.

Chairman of the city's People Committee Nguyen The Thao said the multi-language website has promoted the image of the city to people all over the world. — VNS
