Song festival expresses solidarity with quake victims

HA NOI — The first Japanese singing festival titled Nhung Canh Hac Bay (The Flying Cranes) was held on Sunday in Ha Noi.

Nearly 500 Hanoian students joined in the festival, performing many Japanese songs to express their friendship and love towards the land and people of the country of cherry blossoms.

During the festival, the students also presented 5,000 paper cranes they had made to their Japanese peers. More than VND40 million (US$2,000) was raised during the event in support of Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims.

The festival, which was jointly organised by the Ha Noi Children's Palace, the Japan Centre for Cultural Exchanges in Viet Nam and the Viet Nam-Japan Friendship Association, was attended by Japanese Ambassador Yasuaki Tanizaki and many others.

South Korea boyband to perform in southern province in May

BINH DUONG — Top South Korean boy band Super Junior will end their upcoming tour of Asia with a performance at Go Dau Stadium in the southern province of Binh Duong on May 7.

The tour, titled Super Show 3, will take them through 13 cities including Beijing, Bangkok, Singapore, Yokohama and Manila before reaching Binh Duong.

Show organiser Viet Vision has announced that tickets, ranging from VND1.4 million (US$66) to VND3.5 million ($165), will be available at www.supershow3vn.com from April 12 and at Lotte Mart, 468 Nguyen Huu Tho street, District 7, HCM City from April 9-12.

The band, known as SJ or SuJu, was established in 2005 by SM Entertainment, a Korean talent agency. In March 2010, the 13-member group took part in an MTV Exit concert, which attracted 25,000 fans at My Dinh National Stadium in Ha Noi. — VNS
