HA NOI — Ha Noi FC crushed Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) 5-0 in the V. League 1 at Hang Day Stadium in Ha Noi yesterday.

The match attracted the attention of fans and media nationwide as it featured many members of the national under-23 team that finished second in the U-23 Asian Football Confederation in China in January.

Taking full advantage of playing on their hometurf, the hosts dominated the game from the time the referee blew his whistle.

In the 32nd minute, Ngan Van Dai coolly put his header past goalie Le Van Truong to score the opener for the hosts.

After that, the capital’s team always kept the pressure on the visitors.

Nguyen Tang Tien of HAGL fouled Duy Manh of HAGL and was forced to leave the game with a red card.

In the extra time of the first half, Ganiyu Oseni headed the ball to goalkeeper Truong and doubled the score 2-0 for Ha Noi.

After the break, Ha Noi players scored three more goals thanks to Oseni, Nguyen Quang Hai and Nguyen Van Quyet.

HAGL have also lost their four most recent matches against Hà Nọi in the capital. Earlier, V. League runners-up FLC Thanh Hoa lost to Sanna Khanh Hoa 1-3 at Nha Trang Stadium.

Goal keeper Bui Tien Dung, who shone in the jersey of the Viet Nam national U-23 team at the AFC U-23 Championship in China in January, kept the goal for Thanh Hoa in this game.

Although Thanh Hoa had more skillful players, they did not play closely.

From a corner kick in the right wing, Nguyen Hoang Quoc Chi defeated goalie Dung to open the score for the hosts in the 12th minute.

Thanh Hoa then fought back strongly and created several chances to score goals but failed.

In the second half, Khanh Hoa made it 2-0 in the 58th minute thanks to a long shot of Youssouf Toure.

However, nine minutes later, Pape Omar Faye narrowed the gap to make it 1-2 for Thanh Hoa. However, with a long shot in the 86th minute, Chi fixed the score at 3-1 in favour of Khanh Hoa. — VNS
