Việt Nam win 6 golds at SEA athletics championships

HA NOI — Viet Nam has won six gold medals of the Southeast Asia (SEA) Junior Athletics Championships at Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand.

The gold medals went to Le Tien Long in men’s 3,000m run, Duong Thi Hoa in 100m run, Ngo Thi Khanh Ny in 800m run, Bui Thi Nguyen in the 100m obstacle race, Hoang Thi Giang in long jump and Doan Thu Hang in the women’s 3,000m run on Wednesday.

Vietnamese athletes also bagged seven silver and three bronze medals.

Thailand temporarily topped the medal tally with seven golds, three silvers and five bronzes, followed by Viet Nam and Malaysia.

The tournament attracted athletes born between 2001 and 2003 from 10 SEA countries. They competed in 19 men’s and women’s categories each. Viet Nam sent 32 athletes to compete in running, high jump, long jump, shotput and javelin. — VNS
