HA NOI — The National Wrestling Championships opened in Quoc Oai District in Ha Noi on Thursday.
The event has attracted 100 wrestlers from nine teams across the country including Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen, Tuyen Quang, Vinh Phuc and Thua Thien-Hue.
Participants are competing in 12 women’s and men’s categories from under 48kg to over 85kg.
The top wrestlers will be selected for the national teams to compete at upcoming international tournaments.
It is being organised by the National Sports Administration and Ha Noi’s Department of Culture and Sports .
Quoc Oai is home to some of the leading wrestlers in the country such as SEA Games gold medallist Nguyen Thi Lua and legends Nguyen Dinh Khinh and Phi Huu Tinh. — VNS
