HCM CITY — A music video entitled Rise for Climate was recently launched in HCM City with the participation of artists Thanh Bui, Hoang Bach and many others.
The video was co-produced by the Centre of Hands-on Action and Networking for Growth and Environment (Change), 350.org Vietnam and the Soul Music and Performing Arts Academy to celebrate the Global Day of Action - Rise for Climate last weekend with the participation of hundreds of people from over 90 countries.
"Hopefully our song, Rise for Climate, will make an important contribution in raising public awareness about this issue and engaging all Vietnamese to build a ‘cleaner’ and ‘carbon-free’ society," said artist Thanh Bui.
"I feel very strongly about protecting the environment as it is one of the greatest factors that can affect my children’s future. We have already seen the destruction of climate change over the past few years around the world, and it has also affected Viet Nam.
"Viet Nam must ‘wake up’ to the imminent threat of climate change, and I take it upon myself as a public figure to take greater responsibility in sharing this message, and I hope that through this project, that we can raise awareness of climate change in Viet Nam," said the musician.
The Rise for Climate video carries the message “Stand up, speak up and take actions to minimise the impact of climate change on the community, and to do so, clean energy is one of the most practical solutions.”
At present, over 800 events have been held in over 90 countries. RISE Viet Nam has been one of the most outstanding events around the world with a wide range of activities and creative events.
"We are proud to represent RISE Viet Nam," said Hoang Thi Minh Hong, Director of Change. "Rise Viet Nam’s image is shared widely on social networks by international friends. The Rise for Climate video will touch the hearts of Vietnamese and international friends."
Many other activities, including training courses, seminars and flashmobs were held last week in colleges and universities in HCM City, the southern city of Can Tho and southern province of An Giang.
Together with the music video launch, Change and 350.org Vietnam will collaborate with the Soul Music and Performing Arts Academy to organise a song cover contest from 10 to 23 September with the aim of popularising the song among the public as well as mobilising more people for the grassroots climate and energy movement in Viet Nam. — VNS
