HA NOI — Pambil, a drums band from Colombia, will perform traditional music at the Ha Noi Opera House on May 3.

The loud and energetic beats of drums will be accompanied by the melodious voices of the band members, who will also use Marimba de Chonta (a percussion instrument consisting of a set of wooden bars struck with mallets called knobs to produce musical tones) to produce intense but warm music.

The band, which was formed in 2007, has been influenced by the Marimba traditional music from the south of the Colombian Pacific coast. All the members have extensive musical experience and deep knowledge of Marimba.

In the event on May 3, the band will perform traditional music such as Juga, Bunde, Pasillo, Currulao and Rumba in original compositions as well as old traditional songs. The music is set in both an urban and wild landscape.

The Embassy of Colombia has invited 30 readers of Viet Nam News to the event. Tickets can be collected from April 26 onwards at the embassy, situated on the 14th floor at No 16, Phan Chu Trinh Street, Ha Noi.

The event is being organised in the framework of Cultural Programme 2017-2019, signed between Viet Nam and Colombia during the visit of Viet Nam’s Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh to Colombia. Besides the music concert, many cultural activities have been organised to promote the image of both the countries. — VNS
